Guest Blog by Herds Not Hoards: You Don't Adopt Rescue Animals.
Sorry for the inconvenience! This old blog has been replaced with a shiny new one. Please feel free to check out our new venture: Canem Sententia: One Groomer's Dog Blog
Exactly what I just figured out. And the real kicker is that when they give you an animal that has been abused, left in a "foster" home where the person works all day and come to find out the dog doesn't like kids or men and then you ask them to honor their promise to take it back and give a partial refund they can just say "the DOG is in a bad situation and you're not suitable to own a puppy" and take the animal back with no recourse by you. Except they were SUPPOSED to do a home visit and they were SUPPOSED to work to match the right dog for your family and they SAID they would give a substantial refund. And they did none of those things. Pieces of shit are making thousands on these dogs that they don't care about and are adopting out as fast as the cash rolls in. I asked for info on what vet did the vaccinations and I was ignored.
So, we went to a breeder and got a FULL bred, wonderful, beautiful, well tempered, awesome, amazing poodle. I love him in all his puppiness.
Yeah, I hear you. There's even a term for it now: "Retail Rescue." They're in it for the money, no regard for the animals.
Congrats on your Poodle!!! They are AMAZING dogs! I learned a LOT of respect for Poodles as a Groomer...they are so danged smart but also got a sense of humor, gotta love it!!! :D
This needs to be spread EVERYWHERE and I'm so serious. I'm so sick and tired of people saying that buying a dog or cat is bad when that's EXACTLY what you do when you go to s shelter or rescue. How in the hell do they regard giving a breeder money for a pet as a purchase, but seemingly forget about that 30 bucks they have to fork over to a shelter in EXCHANGE for their animal. It's ridiculous.
If someone in the future ever gives me crap about buying my pets from a breeder, I'll just send them this so they can understand that shelter buyers do the same damn thing.
